12.19.02 elusiveness So I heard back from Mike today. He's hit some more bad news with his family. His ailing aunt had passed away and Mike had spent the latter part of the last 3 weeks dealing with it. He was still elusive about his marital/parental status, but the topic was not avoided. His exact words, "Anyways I also cleaned up some things in my life that were not straight so I can more or less try to do something stand up for a change." I told him that we'd chat when I get back from Puerto Rico because I had tons of questions. I can't wait to get some answers. 3:21 p.m. 12.19.02 on the job It's deathly quiet in this place. All I can hear is the hum of the computer fan. I don't equate quietness with lack of anything to do. Quite the contrary. People in their little corners of the office are busy working away. Even I have been busy the last couple of days learning stuff. We had a team lunch yesterday with our clients. It was 4 of us from NCS and 4 of them from Novartis. One of those 4 was my old boss, Pete, who pretty much got me this job. It was silly from the start. I don't attribute the silliness to the 3 bottles of wine that were on the table. Anyway, the introductions went well and there was an overall good feeling about the project. Today I'm writing up a document that will outline how all the change requests are going to be done with me on the job. That seems so funny to say. 3:16 p.m. |
