no go

Ok, so while train rides can be incredibly romantic, they're awfully expensive. Much more than I thought. So instead I let my mind wander to Site 59, a great site for last minute travel plans. I could get a flight and hotel to London for the weekend for about $500. Oh how I liked London.

Well, I'm off to Tampa next weekend with Michele. Just for the hell of it. I suppose I can wait for an adventure just one more week.

the great escape

So, I'm reading this book, The Blind Assissin and I come to a part where 'the guy' is on a train. And I wonder, 'Yes, that would be a cool thing to do - take a trip on a train to somewhere."

So I started thinking about it. Where would I go? I could pack a backpack, my camera and my journal and go out to Seattle. I've never been thee before. It would be the journey, not really the desitnation that matters most to me. I figure I can enjoy the train ride out there. Stay in the city for about 2 days, then fly home. That could be an adventure. But I don't think it's the right time of the year for that.

But there's always New Orleans... Amtrak will take me right there and I could pick it up in Metropark. The weather is just right for the Big Easy - maybe a little too wet, but definately not too cold. That might be nice...sitting in Cafe Du Monde, drinking hot chocolate, eating a beniet (I dont' know how to spell it, but it sure tastes good!) I could do New Orleans by myself if I had to. There's a lot of cool places to explore and a lot of pictures waiting to be taken.

If I'm out of work for a while, this is something to think about...
