diver down

my entries have taken longer to write than usual. i think it's because i'm out living life instead of writing about it. i like this change.

there are words on the tip of my tongue that i dare not speak.

------------------

the water is clear and calm. just right for diving.

grab your mask, fins and tank. it's going to be a long dive. jump in head first. the water's warm. let it engulf you. relax you.

take a look around you. the sunlight streams through the surface like arms from heaven. illuminating this new world of marine life.

a curious dolphin swims from out of the depths. she eyes you, circles you. friend or foe? you can see old scars from the sharks - healing but still visible. with a trembling hand, you extend your arm to touch the wounds. your eyes meet with the dolphin and a connection is made.

you follow her down deeper - farther than you have ever dove before. the experience is frightening and exciting. to be dancing underwater with a wild creature - what an adventure! in the distance you can see the sharks circling, but with this dolphin you are safe.

but the oxygen in your tank does not last forever, and soon you will have to surface. to return you your life on land, as must the dolphin return to her life under the sea.

the salt is in your blood. you will return and the dolphin will find you. you can not own her, as she is a wild animal, but she will be yours.

------------------

hurry back to the water, t. get off land soon.
